Shoe designing has varied over time and from culture to culture.
Modern variety of footwear includes

Men are very choosy about their footwear. There are men's shoes for every occasion. Designers shoes are very comfortable yet they are bit expensive. Shoes are worn according to one's dressing. Shoes not only enhance the personality of the guy but also induce increased confidence in the person.

Men's shoes can also be categorized by how they are closed:
1. the vamp has a V-shaped slit to which the laces are attached; also known as "closed lacing".
2. the laces are tied to leather attached to the vamp; also known as "open lacing".
3. a buckle and strap instead of lacing
4. there are no lacings or fastenings.

Men's shoes can also be decorated in various ways:
Plain-toes: have a sleek appearance and no extra decorations on the vamp.
Cap-toes: has an extra layer of leather that "caps" the toe. This is the most popular decoration. Wing-tips: The toe of the shoe is covered with the wing-tip, which extends down either side of the shoe
